World Series Game 7 Draws 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The thrilling extra-inning contest that saw the Dodgers beat the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51M viewers across the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition showdown featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

Last Saturday’s epic contest averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 was eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6M watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series averaged 15.71 million audience members on Fox, a 2% rise from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership reached 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The full playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 different languages.
